NFCU does early deposit. You have to call them and set it up. They will release you your direct deposit 1 day early as long as your account is not overdrawn.
My direct deposit is scheduled for Thursdays and my funds are released on Wednesday.

Anything in particular do you have to say to them in order for that to happen?  I've had my direct deposit going there for almost a year and it  has never released early.

You have to call them and tell them that you would like to have your direct deposit set up for early release. It literally takes two mins, as long as your account is in good standing, you will be good to go. Once it's set up, it will be that way permanently!

Cool, thanks.  I called them and they told me to call back next time my check is about to post and after two times they said I would be enrolled in the program.  Thanks for the tip.

Re: NFCU direct deposit turnaround

I tried to do this today, and it turns out that there is a specific window for requesting it.  It has to be done the day before your official pay date between 6:00 am and 4:30 pm (ET).  Because I missed the cutoff, I will have to call back during that window before my next pay date.  Just thought I would share that.  The rep did say that after you request it the first time, the early release will automatically continue unless your account is ever in arrears or you have money owing on another NFCU account, in which case they would not release the funds early.

Hope that helps!

Wow, it was my understanding that this program was only available to active duty military. If that's the case, I'll move my main direct deposit over to them.

Re: NFCU direct deposit turnaround

I just enrolled in DD with them good to know I can enroll in early release I was worried about this as my local bank does it. Hopefully their ACH transfers are faster than my current local bank mine are super slow and from what I have read I'm not getting my hopes up but it would be nice lol.

Getting direct deposit a day early is one of the things that keeps me tied to USAA... it's good to know that it's an option with NFCU for non-military.  Smiley Happy

Re: NFCU direct deposit turnaround

Okay, so I wanted to post an update on my experience with this so far.  As I mentioned before, I missed the window for my last pay period, so I actually called this past Thursday for my direct deposit on Friday.  It turns out that although the window is from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm (ET), you can't request it until the DD shows as pending in your account and the customer service rep can see it.  For me, that meant that my window was actually really short, because my DD didn't show as pending until about 3:30 pm (ET).  However, I did call at that time and I was able to have it released early (immediately).

I asked the rep about future direct deposits and explained that the last rep had said I only needed to go through this process once.  This rep said that she would keep an eye on the account the day before my next direct deposit.  If it doesn't release automatically, call again.  She said it should start happening automatically within one or two pay cycles at the most.

FWIW, I'm a veteran; but she didn't ask about my status at all, and I think it doesn't matter.  The only thing that would impact the early release is if any of your NFCU accounts are not in good standing.  Hope that helps!
