Sorry if this is a duplicate question but I can't seem to find an answer:
1. Do I need my deceased grandfathers documentation at the time of application? And do I need to call in order to apply or can this be done online? When I choose the option online that my family member was in the military, it prompts me to call. When I called she said I should be able to apply online but I seeing mixed information.
2. do they do a HP for membership or just if I apply for a CC?
thanks!
It's best to call. They won't need DD 214 now, but keep handy. Navy periodically audits, they'll freeze accounts until that's provided.
Some reps ask more questions, but mostly ask the branch served and possibly years.
When I first called to apply, I was told proof would need to be uploaded. On the second call they didn't even ask for dd214 and the account was open 20 mins later.
Kp629 ~ I didn't need my husband's DD214 to sign-up and I then signed my daughter up without any issues and/or delay. NFCU did a SP for membership and a HP when we both applied for credit cards.

2 No HP for membership. Hard Pull TU for new credit card.
@blindambition Thank for the info! I will be sure to keep it on file for future! I haven't called back yet but will likely try my luck tomorrow!
@babygirl1256 Thanks so much for the reply! Great info and perfectly answered my question!
@Brian_Earl_Spilner that's good to know! Did you call again because they were asking for proof or was it because your first call was more informational/questions?

First rep said they wouldn't open an account until proof was uploaded through the secured link they were going to send so I didn't bother moving forward.
