Re: Navy Fed

Just go through their rewards for each card and see what lines up with your spending and choose accordingly. Data points suggest not opting for Flagship as your first card as its underwriting is stricter. And pay little mind to the prequal tool as it seems to correlate very little with actual approvals.

Tbanks! I was able to open an account without sending verification but I was prepared to have to get it if needed. Now I'm curious as to which card is best for me. That's really what I was after. Do you have any recommendations? I did the pre-app tool and all the cards came up, but not sure which is the best.

Welcome to the Navy Family and Congratulations!

Re: Navy Fed

I joined based on my Dad's service. I did it over the phone. Dug out all the info they might want before calling....and it was a 5 minute "What was his name and do you know his birthday" before I got the "Yup, you're good". Wish I had known that before I spent time searching for old documents! lol

As far as the prequal tool, it's garbage. Not accurate at all. Just pick a card that has the benefits you want and go from there. Unless you have stellar credit, I wouldn't go for Flagship straight off. Go for one of the others, then Flagship in after 3 full months and 3 full months of statements. Good luck!
