I forgot to mention, on the today's call, the rep told me that it's better to send an application form by e-mail (another member already mentioned the address a page or 2-3 pages ago). Put your last name in the subject line, so that they can trace easily.
@vagrants wrote:Joined the Navy League San Diego Council on 6/5. Sent membership application by fax on 6/6 along with the Navy Legue SD coucil membership reciept. I called the NFCU next day to confirm my membership application. They couldn't find it, and I was told to call back tomorrow. The following day, I called again. My application was not found. I called today, my application wasn't found still. After 5 - 10 min I hang up, I got a notification from the Credit Sesame & Credit Karma, I have an inquiry on my report. Logged into Credit Sesame, Navy pulled. About an 1.5 hr later from the credit pull:
"
Welcome to the Navy Federal Family Dear vagrants, We're excited to welcome you to the Navy Federal family—thank you for joining! If your account was opened as part of a promotional offer, any application incentive will be credited to your account within 14 business days of your membership being established. If you haven't done so already, please submit at least $5 for your Membership Savings Account by either depositing the funds at your local branch or by mailing a check to: Navy Federal Credit Union, PO Box 3100, Merrifield, VA 22119-3100."
I applied yesterday (06/08/16) online, and then also downloaded and emailed the application in pdf format (digitally signed) along with DL and SS and proof of SD Council NL membership. Within one hour, I recieved the same email as above. And today there is the pending debit from my bank account (to fund the new account).
Thanks NFCU for the fast membership. And thanks to the OP and to everyone here for the guidance!

I didn't fax copy of IDs (2x) or utility or whatever though. Just the membership application & Navy League receipt. Maybe they'll ask later or perhaps my membership revolked later.
[Edit]
I say thanks to YoureWelcome, but this backdoor method exsisted since 2013 (? vague memory...can't remember where I first read...probably here for creditboard) or so since NCUA told CUs to tigten membership criteria or something like that of line. I wanted to do this while now. I finally triggered it.
THey will not process your app without the copies of your IDs. Your app will be on hold. This happened to me.

Well, I better call 'em and make sure then. On the welcome e-mail, I see last 2 digits of "supposely" my account #.
[Edit]
Not an account #. Access #.
I submitted my application via email at 9 this morning. Attached in the pdf i had the very clearly hand written application, followed by my DL copy and SS card copy, then a bank statement and the navy league of San Diego printed email. I still havent heard anything, i wasnt expectig it to be super fast but the above poster got a welcome an hour later! dang thats awesome! im hoping to hear something by end of day if im lucky
Thank you!
Did everything you said here to do. I also clicked on to join the San Diego Chapter. I did this online but also printed out a pdf form. (just in case) It did say thank you for joining and now I'm an official member. But nothing about San Diego? Is this normal? From here do we go ahead and open a checking/savings account? I just want mine to sit for about a yr. Then I will app for a cc and will want to join Penfed also.

So, I called...long story short, I have accounts with them without me providing 2 forms of IDs...
I called to find out my full access #. The rep told me go to the home page and click on "Find my access number" under the Access Number. Entered the info, I got the access #. Hanged up. I tried to login, but I don't know my password, so I clicked on "Forgot password?" I got an error say that I need to set security questions, etc. I called back NFCU, got the temporay password while on the phone (last 4 of access # + last 4 of SSN). I sat a new password & a security question. Logged in, and I see Everyday checking & Share savings open and the savings has -$5.00 balance.
I don't know why I didn't need 2 forms of IDs...again, maybe they'll ask me later or get privileges suspended later...I don't know.

The membership form already has check marks on the accounts & upon membership approval, a checking & a saving account should already be opened. At least that was my case.
