Navy Federal - Getting Back In

Since I torched Navy Federal in my bankruptcy (both with a checking and credit card), I have not tried to "get back in".

4 years have passed since my discharge.

Question: do I have to re-qualify for membership and open new accounts with them? Is there a period of time to wait before asking (or attempting) to get back in?

They were good to me, and I crapped on them. I am ready to be a responsible member.

Re: Navy Federal - Getting Back In

From what I've read, most people need to pay them back to get back in. I believe there's a few that have settled and a few that were able to get back in after a very long period and a letter to the board explaining what happened.

If you paid your debt with them, it doesn't hurt to ask if you can rejoin. Good luck!

I concur, my understanding is explaining in detail to the board, maybe offer to pay back what was lent and hope they offer leniency

Re: Navy Federal - Getting Back In

A friend of mine filed Ch 7 on NFCU back in 2014, and that included a car loan and two credit cards. He tried to get back in last year with his wife (who already was a member and attempted to add him as a joint owner on her bank accounts), and he was denied. He offered to settle the balances written off but no dice. They ended up moving everything to PenFed FWIW.

Ch 13 Filed - October 2023
Last Payment - September 2028
Discharge - November 2028?
