Navy Federal account opening

Hey folks, just a question about NFCU requirements. Do you know how much is needed as an opening deposit? I am trying to help my dad set up an account with them since they now accept veterans. Also, what kind of paperwork will he need to provide? Thanks in advance!

It would be best to call them directly and ask. I believe you need to put in $5 to a savings account but can't honestly recall if that was for NASA, PenFed or NFCU.

If you are doing it online, just some basic information about him and his service as in what branch and then you will be asked to fund your account. Then you will get routing numbers and account numbers to get your direct deposits rolling in. One other word of advice is they won't let you use the mobile deposit app for 30 days.

I just did this about an hour ago via the phone, and when the rep asked me about deposits (I opened the mandatory savings as well as a checking), I asked her f I could fund the accts after via mobile deposit and she said no problem.

When I opened my accounts (in branch) I was told no mobile deposit for 30 days like the previous poster. Have tried using it yet?

They opened my savings account with $0 and approved me for a credit card a few hours later. I mailed them a check later that week.
