Just signed up for Navy Federal since it is highly recommended here, and I never know which of their products I might benefit from at any time.
I was eligible through a family member and had to call in to apply. Their website mentions that they may need proof, and the DD214 form is listed as an acceptable form of proof. I have not been asked yet to provide them with my family member's DD214. Will they ever require me to submit this and if so, when? I read on here that they do do audits, but since the form has my family member's SSN on it, I would prefer to submit it soon and not have to worry about keeping that info around somewhere.
Are you near any NFCU branches?
I would just keep it in a safe or secured location in the event they ever ask for proof of their DD214. In the interim, I wouldn't worry about it.

OK, thanks. It is just a scan of it so I will just keep it on my computer somewhere. I am somewhat near a branch but don't want to drive that far just to give them a paper if I don't have to.
I do have to mail them something back once I get it as part of my application, so I will probably call and ask before I send that back to see if they are willing to keep the DD214 on file if I include it.

1. They will probably never ask for it.
2. They are a very internet-oriented bank, so I'm sure you can upload it to them if you want to.

Its been 2 years 7 months since I joined, and they've still not asked for proof yet
