I just wanted to point out for other people who live in Illinois that there is a new "low income" program for electric bill assistance from ComEd, the electric company in Illinois.
As everyone knows, electric bills have been surging across the country and in Illinois.
A new program in Illinois has five tiers of assistance, including for people who are not necessarily "destitute" or eligible for LIHEAP.
The program even allows for people to enroll in Tier 5 of the Low Income Program with a surprisingly large amount of income, because a household of 2 (for example) can make nearly $70,000 a year (going by your last income tax return) and still qualify. (300% of the Federal Poverty Guideline). Each additional person in the household keeps increasing the maximum to qualify for each tier.

If you move, you are allowed to transfer your Low Income Program to the new address using the Transfer my LID form and emailing the completed form to the address listed.
Anyway, I hope this information helps some people in Illinois who may not have noticed the program and are terrified to go near the thermostat.
