Thanks guys for all the good tips and reading thru posts.
I made a change after having issues with Ally Customer Service, I called after having issues with lag time in stuff posting to my account. They acted like they didnt care, i also did some history digging on Ally, and found troubling things, i found on internet and here on Forum. I dumped WF cause i simply cant be with a bank i dont trust, i know they are 5 min drive but couldnt do it. I love Credit Unions, always have and i miss that relationship.
I called and talked to Alaska USA CU they were so nice, welcoming, and friendly in setting up my old checking account. So willing to do the 40 min commute to the Alaska CU if i need to. They updated App recently so that is good.
I opened a new savings at Alliance CU, pretty fast process simple. Not interested in Checking at this time. Debating BECU Savings too.
I'm a member of several financial institutions, including credit unions, and out of all of them, I think Alliant has one of the best user interfaces on both the website and the app. It's very smooth, well put together, and just looks good.
It is unfortunate that they recently nerfed their credit card as I was eyeing applying for one of those later on down the road, but now I don't know where they fit in for me.
Anyways, congratulations and thanks for sharing the experience with Ally. They are one of the financial instutitons I was looking to cut in the near future as I don't use them that much and I need to slim down my memberships a little bit over the next few months.
I wish I was qualified for BECU but unfortunately they are geo-fenced and I do not live in the area required for them. Maybe one day...

BECU is not geo-fenced. My wife and I are in Virginia and we signed her up for BECU at the beginning of this month. If you want it, go get it!

Oh, really? I thought they were...
Interesting, I will have to look into this. Thanks for letting me know!

They were until sometime last year or 2019 or something? I went through extensive research on finding a new CU for my wife and I landed on BECU for her. Threads from years past about them opening up nationally convinced me to go for it.

paid $20 for NWCUF membership
snail mail this form with hand written https://www.becu.org/~/media/Files/PDF/6803_9115.pdf?la=en
included copies of driver license, SSN and welcome email from NWCUF
mailed it out a week+ ago and received a WELCOME email from BECU yesterday
p/s: I also did online first, but didn't work out for me

Congratulations on your CU memberships.
BECU savings used to be 6.17% APY up to $500. They have since reduced it to 1%.
If you are interested, DCU has savings at 6.17% APY up to $1,000.

DCU is one that is growing on me so I second this recommendation. I initially signed up with them for the 6.17 on $1k in savings, but then found out they do 2 day early direct deposit so I setup a checking account with them.
The website is OK imo, it's no where near as sleek as Alliant, but the iPhone APP is perfect for its purposes. Much better. I definitely prefer it over the website.
They also offer quarterly prequalifications that, if eligible, will not require a HP to apply for which is awesome. I don't have any yet, but I am definitely looking to this CU as one to grow with as time goes on.

This might be out of date info now?
BECU had my wife to choose between a few options to obtain eligibility. She was qualified for none. She went to the next page and it offered to pay for a membership like the one mentioned above I think? BECU paid for it on her behalf and then it proceeded to let her signup without much hassle.

Possibly?
I don't know how loose or tight BECU's requirement are these days. I did the snail mail approach myself. I didn't want to encounter the Financial Crimes Unit for being out of area.
