Hey Y'all -- hope everyone is well.
Those of you that are PSECU members - how long did it take for your membership to be approved? I applied yesterday afternoon - membership only, no credit/loan products - and my membership went Under Review and is still in that status. I supplied all of the requested IDs (DL, SS card) and received an email confirming my docs were received, but I'm still waiting for a membership status. I am not a PA resident but qualify for membership as a Penn State alum. Just curious if this is the norm with them and, if so, how long it took for others to be granted membership approval.
I'll probably give them a call tomorrow if I don't hear anything tonight but figured I'd ask the Q here... thx.

I wanna say they shut off out of state membership via the $20 or $10 donation to the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (PRPS) because of the Myfico effect. But if you're eligible via a different way (like being an alum of a college, which you are) I'd think you'd still be good.
I would just give them a call. A lot of credit unions manually refer membership applications or whatever.
@Royalbacon Definitely give them a call. I joined in 2016 over the phone through a family member and membership was approved during the phone call.
If you applied online it's probably in a queue waiting to be reviewed when you call in they can get it done. Great customer service and low rates. I love PSECU.
Also, their balance transfer rate 2.9% goes through the end of 2021 now. Great benefit to have! Good luck!

Thx @newmomnewme and @Royalbacon
I spoke with a rep after receiving a "need more info, pls contact us" request yesterday. Turns out, they couldn't pull Chex because of my freeze. I forgot I put s freeze on it last year. Of course, I couldn't find my 12 digit pin to unfreeze so now have to wait to receive a new pin by mail. PSECU rep (super nice guy) says the app is active for 30 days so I should be able to proceed w no problem once I unfreeze chex.
Again - thanks to you both for your input.

As an aside, they still allow out of state people to join. They just sent an email out trying to get more members. Even giving $50 if you join.

My dad works at PSECU and they are all working from home right now and overworked, so a lot of things are taking longer than usual. I can't give you an estimate, but I can tell you that this isn't specific to you. The mortgage department is even more overworked because of the interest rates.
EDIT: Right after posting I read the post about ChexSystems- sorry about that. I hope you got that straightened out.

I just applied for PSECU membership from out of state. We'll see what happens. Told me application needs to be reviewed and sent me to a secured document upload page to upload a photo of my drivers license. Most of the datapoints i've found from people saying out of state people can't join are from like 2010-2012-ish.

@Royalbacon I hope that you are approved so good luck to you!
What is you qualifying factor to be approved for membership? Will this be through family or are you an alumni?
