Trifecta: CC, Auto re-fi and PLOC with one Equifax HP all within first week of membership approval.
I am very impressed with PenFed. Website has been very intuitive and the one CSR I talked to was very nice and seemed interested in listening to me. For 1 Equifax HP I was able to open a savings account, checking account with overdraft, approved for a Visa (10K, 10.24%), refinanced a car loan from 5.125% to 1.99% (saving $2400) and approved for PLOC (15K, 10.5%). I have not found out my Equifax Nextgen score (used bt Penfed) but am curious where that score stands.
I was able to join PenFed with a $15 tax deductible donation to a military charity. I also belong to USAA and PenFed has them beat on many of the banking products.
I am fortunate that I have a good credit profile. Eq 10 inquiries, many new accounts, AAoA 8 years, longest being 25 years. Equifax myFICO 8 (787), 15 years in current house, 9 years at current job with an income above $100K. I apologize if the post appears boastful, simply trying to give back information as so many else on this board have so freely done.
As another point I opened a NASA FCU saving account with a SP. I also applied for one of their Visa cards and was turned down for too many inquiries and new accounts. This was prior to my PenFed application.
As new accounts begin to report I anticipate a drop in score with a return as I go to the garden. In fact, planning to lock myself in the dang garden.
Congrats on all of your new accounts.
I am thinking of joining Penfed in September. My reports will finally be clean. I want to get a car loan and I know they have great rates. It is good to see you can get a number of products with the same INQ. I wouldn't mind also apping for their CC at the same time.
It will be nice to be established with them as I want to buy a house next year.
thanks for the data points!
if you're profile supports it, would you guys recommend to app NOW or just wait when you're ready to take advantage of a new loan (auto)?
im newb. i need to learn PLOC.
i would recommend not apping until you are ready for an auto loan. I want to say you will have 30 days to use the loan without having to reapply, but call them when you are ready.
PLOC - Personal Line of Credit
My Nextgen according to them is a 730; probably was about the same when I applied and was approved for their PLOC since there's been no materially positive changes that would've been accounted for in their 3/1 pull.
I did a CLI request via the on-line account access last night. Figured I may as well during the 90 day window. They approved me for over $30K up from the $10K SL.
Was going to apply for a different card but did not need another card at this point in my profile.
