I got first stimulus by check, got my 2nd stimulus last week, a blankity-blank debit card. Smiley Frustrated I hate those pre-loaded debit cards, by design if you use them to buy things it's pretty much impossible to drain to the last dollar, and I use reward CCs to pay for things. So I stopped by a BBVA branch and asked the teller politely to do a $600 cash advance on the card & put it into my checking account. Mission accomplished. Smiley Very Happy

I always just put them on my Amazon account and drain them with reloads

$600 in Amazon gift card reloads would last me 10 years. Smiley Very Happy I only make 2-3 small orders from Amazon per year, so even though I do stream video Prime isn't worth it for me, and I live in a rural area so no grocery delivery for me. I buy more online at Walmart.com, no minimum order for free delivery to my store where I shop weekly.

For bank account bonuses that require XX debit card purchases I used to do Amazon GC reloads but I found out my electric utility accepts payments under $1 w/no surcharge for debit/credit so I do small payments on my electric bill and save the rest of the bill for 5% cashback on my US Bank Cash+.

Well I wasn't suggesting the full $600, just the leftover lol. You can load exact amounts which makes it perfect for draining that last awkward couple bucks and change that's left.

Re: Stimulus Checks Going Out

Finally received my $600 check today, some 4 weeks after the mailing date. So I was able to pay my personal loan down by one-third.

I sure hope another $1400 will be forthcoming........

Congress decided to move ahead with a reconciliation bill on covid so it looks like there will be another one.  Timeframe is mid-march as the process takes 6 weeks.

So in other words those of us who have no choice but to get it in the mail because IRS can't update their system to allow us to add our bank accounts will see it late April, early May. 😔

For what it is worth, I recall reading recently that they're working on figuring out why people haven't been getting their stimulus payments in a timely manner or at all and they are supposed to be fixing that.  I'd imagine that would be a priority with the new stimulus checks on the way.

The IRS has terrible data management policies. They need to use something like "Melissa" which corrects and updates demographic and contact info for companies en masse. I know too many people that have had issues. However, none of these people that I know personally do not use TurboTax. IDK if how TurboTax feeds the data to the IRS makes it easier for them to read. I got my last 2 checks direct deposited a day before most (credit union).

All they need to do is allow those of us who filed and weren't owed a refund the ability to add our bank accounts or at least check with Social Security for those of us who have that situation because Social Security has had the same bank account for my direct deposit going back to 2014.
