sorry i wasn't clear, i meant just loading money from my cc to serve. Say i have only 100 left on my serve account and i have an cable bill coming up thats 150. I would add from 50 from my cc to amex serve. So i would have 150 in my serve account to pay off my cable bill. Would that be safer than just transferring the 100 dollars from my serve to an bank account, and closing my serve account.

Oh, I see.

Yes!  I've never and have always refrained from withdrawing a CC load into a bank account.  Or, you can just use the Serve card and pay your cable bill online with the difference taken from your registered CC.

Mong, it's not going to hurt you at all to just go ahead and finish the last bill you need to pay and then proceed in closing it to get your newly activated ISIS serve account. To me, the main reason to switch to the ISIS is that you can do 500/day that's 2.5 days with regular Serve.

Re: Question on Serve with ISIS wallet

Using Serve with ISIS wallet is it ok to load the 1.5k per month from my ink card or will Chase take issue with that (I wouldn't think they will care but you never know)? I need to pay some other bills that will not take credit cards so I have to send out a check with serve.

Chase doesn't treat these transactions as a cash advance. You do get rewards of the amount you use.

Re: Question on Serve with ISIS wallet

Should be fine, although you won't get many rewards. If you have a Quicksilver, BoA Travel Rewards, Fidelity Amex etc those would be better choices as they will give you more than 1% cashback.

AFAK no credit card treats Serve as cash advance, but AMEX issued cards don't earn rewards on Serve reloads.

You're right about the cash advance.. I was confusing no rewards with cash advance.

Treated as purchase, but doesn't earn points/miles:

  • Amex (Might count toward minimum spend)

Since the Ink cards are earning URs, many would put 1UR above 1.5% QS etc, and maybe above 2% Fidelity Amex

I'm not really worried about the reward rate as I'm using the card on everything to meet min spend at this point.

From FT thread I read earlier citi cards count as cash advance but Barclay's and chase do not
