Retirement account loans?

I'm planning to take out a loan against my 403(b) retirement account (this is an account related to my current, post-retirement job; I already receive a fixed pension payment from my previous government job).  This loan poses little risk to me--even if for some reason I did not pay it off within five years, there's no penalty if it's treated as a withdrawal because I'm 61.

Since I'm essentially borrowing from myself, does this loan get reported to the credit bureaus?  I've had pension loans in the past, but that was before I paid attention to my credit reports/scores, so I'm not sure how they were treated.

I've already got a good mix of credit, so it isn't like I need to have another loan on my report--it's more curiosity than anything else.

Re: Retirement account loans?

I just googled  loan 403(b) credit report

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1&ei=GaHvWqKCHYS7zwL1opOYAQ&btnG=Search&q=loan+403%28...

and the consensus appears to be that the loan will not appear on your reports.  I'd spend time reading the first dozen hits in that search.

Great, thanks!

That's what I thought made intuitive sense, but intuition when it comes to credit matters is seldom reliable.  Smiley Happy

I've personally never heard of a 403(b)/401(k) loan reporting.

To add a data point, the ones I've had in the past definitely didn't report.  My accounts were with Fidelity.
