A quick follow up from my previous post:
I agree if the price difference is small it probably won't be worth the hassle to switch.
The switch at the time from USAA to Progressive I am saving $526.40 per year.
Even with Progressive's increase and a recent quote from USAA I am still saving $510 per year by not choosing USAA.
I'm certainly not a cheap person but it was worth switching for over $500 per year.

I use Progressive as well. It was the best rate I could find by far.

Hmmm, I might have to check out Progressive - do they let you change coverage "on the fly"? What I mean is for example on Geico.com I can change my collision/comprehensive coverage from $500 deductible to $750 deductible to see how it affects my rate. When I see it makes only a $10.xx change on my 6 month rate I decide to keep the $500 deductible.
With American Family everything still goes through an agent so I had to email the agent, who I've never met, to ask him about a change in coverage and he'd email me a new quote, very time consuming & ineffective for the agent and me.
EDIT: Decided to go ahead & get a quote from Progressive, only a $20 & change lower than Geico for 6 months, not enough to get me to change.

Yeah they allow you to “test” the options. I’ve been very happy so far. But if Geico gets the job done for you, good on you lol they gave me the highest quote of all the companies I checked. Too bad cuz I like the Gecko lol
Sorry USAA jacked your rates. We live in area hit by floods and fires for past few years so some companies just won't write here any more; several others jacked the rates. We carry larger limits than most advertise on line. We shop 4 policies every 2 years. Professional e/o that includes a $100,000 general liability, auto, home owners and business policy complete with non owned auto. We get quotes for 5 or 6 major national companies and two regional providers. By NOT bundling for the past 3 years we came out cheaper by over $2,000 by buying seperate.
Progressive about a week a go quoted as a great auto/home owner package that was another $500 cheaper. We will be converting to it. We had them for auto but not home owner. All I can say shop about 30 days out and be prepared to see rates all over the place. We also get a discount for paying policy in full at once.
Same here on the ridiculous increases!! I'd suggest raising your deductible. If you have savings and/or CC's that can cover the deductible. I see no reason to pay the higher rate for a lower deductible. You'd save that money by raising the deductible. I've done this on my Home and Auto policies with USAA. Next move will be to a different company, if I see another significant rate increase this year!
Yeah absolutely set your money for the deductible aside. You can actually save so much money with higher deductibles that even if you had to float it on a credit card for a few months and pay interest, it would still be cheaper than the astronomical rates. When I had Progressive, it was almost twice as expensive to have a $500 deductible as it was to have $1000 and insurance was expensive enough here in CO anyway so I opted for the $1000 deductible. It was like $90 a month vs $160.

Deductibles certainly matter as well as where you live has a huge impact. I live in Ohio which is one of the least expensive states for auto insurance. I'm just glad I don't live in Detroit, Michigan.
LOL, well that was a non-starter checking with Progressive.
Same insurance level would cost over double what I'm paying now. Maybe I'll check again in a few years but for now apparently USAA is doing me right.
