Well, I'll admit and the Savings account for 6% APY is interesting to park some money there.
I've been thinking of signing up and was wondering how the process goes when you donate to one of the charity foundations? Also, if the charity is one-time or a recurring? If recurring, can you stop it?
Any bonus with a referral?
It was kind of a hassle. Whole process took about 10 or so days before I could actually access my account.
I chose a one-time donation. No referrals that I'm aware of.

That is interesting for the setup, but the referral ... are you sure? I can see right on DCU's website that there is a page containing about it. (Google search: DCU referral)

I asked beforehand and was told no. I actually had to call them 3 times during the process.
They limited my deposit so I had to transfer the remainder of the $1000 after I had access. The actual account set up was pretty quick. Protip: They'll start sending emails telling you to log into your account and set stuff up, but you can't, because they'll send you a pin, and that's your first password. The pin was the last piece of paperwork I got. That's where most of the frustration was. None of the CSRs, until the last one, knew the pin was the first password. They kept trying to reset it and kept telling me to try again, then try in a day or two.
DCU is great unless you need to reach them. And yes, it takes forever to get the PIN in the mail. Also make sure you save it because you cannot change it.
"What do I need a PIN for?
You need your DCU PIN for the following:

They are one of the few CUs that hasn't dropped rates on their savings accounts. The savings is also a blended rate so you get 6.17% on the first $1K and .25% on the excess instead of some of these accounts like Blue FCU where going over the $1K drops the entire APR to the lower amount. It means you don't have to stress about getting the $5 and change transferred out of the account every month.

+1 @Anonymous .. I was waiting for you to chime in on this!
I am sure it has been mentioned, just curious who/what do they pull to become a CU member?
(I am not interested in credit products ATM, as you could probably understand LOL/why)

An existing member can refer you online by going to the account manager and along the bottom left selecting Share DCU -> Refer a Friend.

@M_Smart007 They will pull ChexSystems and soft pull EQ5. They also give free monthly EQ5 score. If eligible and creditworthy, they might even show a pre-qualified / pre-approval for a CC during the membership application.
