Trying to get back in with PNC after 3 years.

3 years ago, I had checking account with PNC that was charged off due to a negative balance and me being financially illiterate. There is an entry in my EWS report from them and the amount is settled (not PIF). PNC pretty much terminated my entire relationship and closed all my accounts I had with them. I remember a phone call I had with a lady that was quite irritating as she was very reluctant to giving me reasons for the decision.
I also had a business account that was closed off and I paid in full with no issues during this time.

The last time I applied for a personal account was 08/15/2019 and I applied online, and a letter was generated telling me to call in for more info. I called in and the lady told me that I was being denied because of past account history. (Not EWS) Okay, understood. I will give it some time and sort my financial life out.

Fast forward now I am waiting for a ch7 discharge and starting out completely clean. I have been banking with PENFED for the past 2.5 years and they have been fantastic. I just want to try and reestablish my relationship with PNC. With the entry in EWS it’s quite possible I will have to wait the 7 years out but I wanted to  reach out and see what your guy's thoughts are on this. I can confidently tell you and I am not being denied because of EWS but I feal like if I try and apply now, it is going to be that reason.

Let me know you thoughts.

While I don't have any info specific to PNC, I can tell you that all banks have their own internal memory that can go one for-ev-er regardless of EWS. Are you looking to just get in PNC with another checking account or are we talking credit cards or another type of lending?

I'd recommend starting a new relationship elsewhere with a clean slate or sticking with PenFed if you're happy with them.

Just their checking account is all I am looking to open.

Nohing ventured, nothing gained.

It unfortunately doesn't appear that you're lucky enough to have another member here who has already blazed this specific trail so you may have to be the data point you are looking for.  They may just have a standard timeline where after a set window they may reconsider a reopening, or they may have an effective permanent blacklist.

Have you requested a copy of your EWS report since you were last denied by PNC?

If not, go to the URL I posted below and request a copy so you can see what if anything they have previously reported, including if there was an inquiry by them on your last attempt.   Your best move may be to just go ahead and apply again for a savings account.

If you're not an active bonus-chaser having a single inquiry wouldn't be a big deal, but it could be helpful if you knew what if anything they reported last time you had applied.

Have you tried BBVA?  They were acquired by PNC so that may be a back door option when the accounts get converted over to PNC later in 2021 after the acquisition is completed.

Plus, BBVA is currently offering sign up bonuses.  I know I'm in EWS  from 2017 and was approved for BBVA in December, 2020.
