Under U.S. Bank Smartly Savings, the "interest tiers are updated to single tier"
Got'ta love it ![]()
We will live with "bated" breath ... the latest nerf ![]()
So many consumers on this Forum stated they moved $100,000 over to maximize their interest rates and to claim a 4% on the US Bank Smartly Credit Card.
Now were invested and they kick us while we are down.
One poster presented this: Looks like the Smartly Savings rate is made up of 0.05% base + ?.??% for a rate bump. Is this new change removing the rate bump? Well? It does say only one tier.
Do NOT know what US Bank is doing other than the notice of the forth coming change. The way it has been going a rate of 0.05% would not surprise me. As to my dollars in the savings ... $500.
The US Bank Smartly program is like an octopus where a change in one place affects another. We all know about the points game with the US Bank Smartly Visa Credit Card.
It has been a little over one year of the new and improved US Bank Smartly Banking program and every few days another component takes a hit. Wondering if this whole thing has been a "bait and switch" (unofficially of course and no the Federal Agencies are not going to investigate).
Easy Come, Easy Go ![]()
So, what is the rate now?

True, but I really hope you have only a small (very small) portion of your $100,000 in their (currently) 2.96% APR Smartly Savings. I only have $500 in there. The rest in self-directed invest, robo-invested, and self-directed Roth.
Looks like the Smartly Savings rate is made up of 0.05% base + 2.91% rate bump. Is this new change removing the rate bump?
I checked today and was pleasantly surprised to see my Smartly Savings was 3.92% APY!! I'll take that!
I had just assumed it was in the 2%s at best. Surprising! The only thing that made me look was that I pulled the $25,000 out of (and closed) my Business Checking that I had put in there for the $1200 bonus and I wanted to see what my $25,000 would be sitting at. No rush to take it out of 3.92%! ![]()

Wow, 3.92% is excellent considering that the US Mobile site says 3.5% is the highest!

Lol, I saw the 3.50% figure too. I was trying to search the history of Smartly rates, which I couldn't find, but I did see that 3.50% is the highest they offer today.
