Pretty simple, I'm just curious what people think makes a bank/credit union worth going with as their main (or only) bank and why. Especially if it's something more than "it happened to be close"

Main bank is Capital One 360. Reason: quick to deposit my pay checks, existing Capital One credit cards, and overall easy app to navigate with tons of features. Savings account gets a good rate too.
Other banks are Sofi, which I mostly keep to fund my Roth IRA, and a local credit union so that I have a physical branch to go to when I need to deal with cash.
My main hub bank is a very small, local bank with only like 6 branches. Honestly, the reason I use them is because they didn't take any bailout money back in 2008 when all that crap went down. They do everything I need them to do (online banking, paperless checks/payments, direct deposits, notarizing documents, etc.) and if I need to call them, I literally know the person I'm talking to. They are extremely stable and I trust them to not screw me over. I have used them for over 15 years ever since National City Bank sold out and went nuts.

I use Ally Bank which is an internet bank (no branches). If you stsrt an ACH transfer from within Ally they have high limits on the amount you can transfer in or out. Customer service is 24 7 US based. It is very easy to avoid fees. Many of the fees some banks charge Ally does not. Pay checks 2 days early
I use Huntington for cash transactions because they're close. I'm using navy for online, mostly to build relationship.

I have a Huntington checking account only to boost my Voice up to 3.15%, but I keep very little in there. I put half of my utilities payments in there every pay check and then pay my utilities from it (via Voice) monthly. Interestingly, the Huntington debit card is the one I carry in my wallet since there are tons of branches where I live. If I travel, I switch out to my Capital One 360 debit card and draw from my HYSA.

Bank of America has been my primary bank for 7 years.
Reasons:
- I've received good service from BofA both ion a branch level and a corporate level.
- The connection between BofA and Merrill makes it easy to manage some of my investments.
- My Platinum Honors Rewards status gives me perks such as enhanced rewards accrual and things like a free safe deposit box.
- BofA took a chance on me and issued a Secured CCR only 2 months after my DC. That card graduated in only 7 months.

Reasons i like them:
Chase as I have been with them for some 30+ years but I am in the process of converting to primis for their High Yield checking account.
I'm kind of between main banks right now. The small, local credit union that had been my main recently merged with a much larger regional credit union that I'm not really interested in using for that purpose. I've been trying out Amex online checking since I already had a HYSA with them, but I haven't really liked it. The interest earned on the checking balance is kind of nice, but their services are a bit lacking overall and the two times I wanted to use the debit card, Amex wasn't accepted. I'm considering Navy Federal as my new main. I recently opened a credit card with them and have liked them so far. They also have a branch that's pretty close to my job.
