Re: What would prompt you to change your bank?

Boy I went through so many credit unions and banks in the past few months....

Wells Fargo, Chase, BoA, Santander, Lake Michigan, State Department, Ally, PenFed, Alliant, BECU, Capital One 360, Fort Knox FCU.

Im probably on some kind of ChexSys black list for next 2 year for that.  But really there is no way to figure out who offers what kind of service and experiance until you try their bank/CU first hand.

I really liked Santander for their very personal experiance but we are moving out of East Coast. That's one big bank that I really wouldn't mind going back to. Other than that, each of the above was missing something.

We really like to bank with few fees, no minimum on checking, bug free mobile support, good CDs and savings, 24 hours support. Having a local co-op or branch also important. Not a single CU or bank offers this. Although few come close.

We almost went with Chase as our only bank, they offered us 2.1% 12 month CD but things went south right after opening accounts.

BECU is probably one that comes close too, they have 2.68% CD, although their money market is only 1%. Another member in here had some not so good experiance with them and my own experiance with Chase made us very weary of putting everything into one basket. So we settled on Alliant for its very simple mobile app, great CDs and high savings rates and 24 hours customre service which comes useful when you are out of the country. For 2nd banking I am going to try BECU while my wife does a local credit union. Most likely Evansville Teacher's Federal or Republic Bank.
