2 charge off with capitol one

I had 2 credit cards years ago, 1 one HSBC and the other was the secured card from capitol one. The HSBC was bought by capitol one and converted to capitol one quick silver. Both cards were charged off I believe around 2017. Both cards have since fallen off my credit reports as I settled with portfolio recovery and they have been paid and removed just a few months ago. My question is, I recently applied for the venture cardand was denied based on activity on a prior capitol one account. Am I black listed from them ? Will I ever be able to get another capitol one card ? I do like they're cards and now things are more financially better for me so I'm improving my credit and trying to get cards that will give better person.

Welcome Brother @Fireman613

Since this happened. You can try the pre-qual and probably end up with a bucket card around $500 and a triple pull. What else is in your wallet. Better things out there.

Re: 2 charge off with capitol one

Thank u for the reply, I did the pre Qual on the app that's how I tried at the card. I didn't do an actual app since I didn't want the hard pull and my credit karma kept advertising the pre Qual. I had a chase slate with a 2k limit, chase just transitioned it into the freedom unlimited, amex everyday preferred 2800$ limit, was 3500 but they dropped it years ago for a returned payment which was my fault I entered the wrong account info for the payment. I'm an authorized user on my dad's lowes store card $1200, and his home depot store card $7500. I have late payments from an old ally auto loan I'm trying to figure out how to removed. Back from 2017 and 2018. Also I just got approved for the best buy store card $2k limit. They denied me the best buy visa card.

Capital One is not as easy to get as it used to be.  I have been black listed by them too, even though I settled with the Collections agencies and they have been completely removed from my reports too.  Time frame was about the same as you in 2017.  I just went elsewere and got a few good cards.  I started with Mission Lane and got a no annual fee card with them for a $1000 starting limit and a secured card with Navy Federal for $2000.  Later, I got a Navy Federal Flagship card with a $9000 starting limit and a Discover IT card with a $6500 starting limit.  My scores were about 660 - 680 when I applied for the last two cards.  Capital One would only pre-qualify me for a secured card (and it still is the only option see as I continue to check every couple months).

Re: 2 charge off with capitol one

Did the discover pre qual, says I qualify for discover it secured. The only other thing I'm seeing is a Verizon collections account from 2019 that was paid in full before it was sent to collections. The new cable provider was supposed to pay the bill and never did when my mother switched from fios to optimum. It's listed on all 3 reports, but does not come up under collections or charge offs. Just potentially negative.

Re: 2 charge off with capitol one

Capital One is a strange one.

In my case, I had a quicksilver that was charged off for $10k back in 2019. They sold it to a debt buyer who now has it. I've not tried to pay it off or negotiate it with the debt buyer yet as the SOL has passed and I've been working on other collections to pay off after my finiancial meltdown from a few years ago.

So the sold charged off account is still on my credit reports and unpaid and yet they approved me a few weeks ago for a $5,000 Savor One with the sign up bonus.

Cap1 has been showing up as being not so forgiving lately in other areas of the forum. I'd grab the Disco. It will graduate with a CLI and you still get the cash back match as a regualr card. Great for a stepping stone.
