hi i just got a letter from experian informing me that they removed 2 ca from my record but also they updated my macys ca,what is my next step?do i need to inform trans union and equifax about this??should i pay macys and have the acc removed "someone told me they remove store acc in ny after 5 years" how many points will my fico go up after this news? please help.
Why did EX remove the collections? Did you dispute them. Did you dispute with TU and EQ also? If so, each CRA does things differently and do not care what the others do.
Yes, in NY, a paid collections is removed after 5 years.
What do you mean they updated your Macy's collection? Was that disputed?

Just paying a collections does not remove it from your credit report. It can continue to report as paid.
Getting it removed would be between you and the creditor.
That is not how disputes work.
You should not dispute any account that is valid and reporting accurately.

Ok you were confusing me. Yes, once paid, under NY law, it will be removed if it is 5 years or older. You may need to remind the CRAs of the NY statute and you must still reside in NY.
