A thin file?

Hi everyone.  This is my first post.

I just tried to sign up to get my FICO scores and they said I don't have enough information in my file to produce a report.

I got a NFCU secured credit card several months ago and have been using it and paying it down.

I haven't used a credit card for 10 years berfore this I got this one.  My Chapter 13 bankruptcy was discharged in Nov. 2014 and I want to rebuild.

How many credit lines do I need to get a report?  I have been thinking of getting a credit building loan from NFCU.

Usually takes about 6 months of history to generate a score.

Re: A thin file?

Thanks, that is good to know.

I guess I will add a loan and then join another CU.  They have the same products.

Re: A thin file?

Yes, if you have no other installment loans, that would be a good idea. Keep it small ($500 or less) and s long of a payment term they will give. SDFCU will do share secured loans for $500 @ 36 months at only 3.99%
