Advice regarding EOS CCA (Verizon) and Experian

New to the forum - first post!

I've been in the process of rebuilding since my divorce in 2015. One of the accounts that went delinquent was a Verizon account, I believe went delinquent in 2015.

Verizon never reported the account to the credit bureaus. The  account showed up with EOS CCA with a date opened of 03/18/2018 on both Transunion & Experian - I decided to wait it out and let it fall off. I pulled credit reports in November - Tranunion showed a deletion date of 02/2022, Experian WAS showing an on record until date of 12/2021.

With the info from this forum I did the Early Exclusion through the Transunion site yesteray and it was removed no problem - thanks!

I checked my Experian credit report as I was going to call i to try and get an EE - and the current report no longer shows the 'On Record Until' date. I called today and sopke to two specialists, called again and spoke to someone in the dispute department, then got transferred to a supervisor in the dispute department - they are all telling me the 'On Record Until' of December that I have in the November report they do not see - the 03/09/2018 date is when it was first reported so that is the date they work from and it will stay on my report until 2025! I explianed that is not the date I went delinquent and they didn't want to hear it - kept insisting that the delinquent date doesn't matter they are going by when it was first reported, and since Verizon didn't report it but EOS did the day Experian is going from for 7 years is the date EOS reported it.

The supervisor went on to say I can either contact EOS or have Experian file a dispute, but being they see the date for deletion isn't until 2025 they won't entertain an Early Exception.

My understanding is the default date with Verizon is the correct date. Am I wrong? Is there anything I can do to deal with this and get this off my report now?

Also - being that Experian originally had the 'On Record Until' as Dec 2021 - is there a chance this falls off at the end of the month even though the report no longer shows that?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'd let it ride out and die a slow death. Dont poke the bear. Regardless of who the debt was transferred to or when it was transferred, the Fair Credit Reporting Act allows collections to legally be reported by the credit bureaus for up to seven years after the DoFD. Debts past the statute of limitations can’t be relisted as new debts on your credit report. That means once you’re past the seven-and-a-half-year mark, most of these negative marks will fall off your credit report.

But OP is saying the account actually went delinquent in 2015, meaning it should fall off sometime next year. Letting it go and accepting what EX said about it falling off 7 years from when the COLLECTION was opened is incorrect.

OP, I'd contact Verizon for old billing statements and escalate until you get someone who can help, because odds are, a Frontline CSR won't be able to help.

Do you have saved copies of your credit reports? If so send them the relevant dates from all 3 reports and explain nicely showing proof that they are wrong and you will escalate to legal action if not corrected. Old bills will help too! Good luck

Re: Advice regarding EOS CCA (Verizon) and Experian

Thanks for the replies and advice all -

Just a quick update & good news!

I decided to wait until January to escalate - both to cool off a bit and because the old Experian CR originally said it was going to fall off December. In the meantime - a couple of days ago I recieved an email requesting me to do a survey on my customer satisfaction with the help I recieved. As you can imagine I went through the survey and left a blistering review. I made sure to mention that I was planning on contacting the CFPB and I was debating contacting a lawyer to see what my next step should be.

I don't know if it just naturally fell off or if my review helped to tilt the scales but I checked Experian this morning and the account has been deleted!

Glad the problem has been resolved with a deletion. FYI Ex doesnt delete items until the weekend following the first full week of the month.
