Advice wanted for rebuilding credit cards

I've been helping my sister for the past year and a half.  She has been an AU on my discover.  Lately my utilitzation has been high from doggie emergency.  That said... She has a capital one QS1, Platium Classic, and just qualified for a sony visa from Capital One.  I had wanted her to to try and get a Citi Mastercard Secured.  She has no history of BK, 7 collections, and student loans she is rehabing.  I hear this can become unsecured in 18 months.  Should I tell her to try for this?  Her limits are low on her capital ones at 500 each for the next year or so I imagine.  She has the money in savings to do this but I don't know that much about secured cards.  Is it bad for her now that she has unsecured ones?

First thing I would do is remove her as AU from your card so it cannot be held against her anymore, its done its job shes got 3 of her own cards. I would just stick with these 3 and build credit up with them in a few months I would add a store card using the Comenity SCT one that she will actually use to help out in the credit mix category. I do not see the need for secured cards at this time.

I agree with gdale6.  There is no need to app for secured card with Citi.  However, when time has passed she could app for a regular Citi card.  Right now the three cards are good, and possibly adding a store card.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

No real need for more cards at this point - not for growing. She needs to put those Cap One cards to use and get the limits up. She should be requesting CLI's on those Cap One cards every month. They will generally give a CLI every six months.
