Almost to discharge. Time to make a plan for rebuilding.

So according to PACER, I am at day 53. So 7 days away from discharge.

So what I currently have,

Opensky          $0/400          Handles my Netflix and Hulu. Might keep this since I can increase the limit to $3k.

Credit One      $0/450           Handles my cell

Indigo              $24/300         Daily runner

Snap On           $6931.63

Victoria's Secret      $0/250   I have a daughter, she can use it and I get the extra padding my reports.

Overstock         $0/250         Asked for a limit increase. Waiting decision. I do need to decorate my house. No beer cans, but it is a bachlors pad.

Fingerhut           $0/700        Just a padder. Might buy the cheapest thing to keep open. Just another thing to help with AAoA when its time to kill some cards.

I use the AZEO method on the cards. As soon as it posts I pay but leave the $24 as my 8%.

So my thoughts are these.

I want these cards

Navy Federal. Burned them in my BK so have to pay $3K to make them happy to get a secured card

Discover. Never had em. Just like how everyone else likes them.

Capital One. Burned them in my BK. Preferably 2. Want to get into the high cards. Stay away from the rebuilders, if I can.

Amazon. Burned Sync in my BK. I want them back for shopping that Walmart can't fill or Best Buy isn't needed.

Walmart. Shop there almost daily. Groceries and incidentals.

Best Buy. For getting more specific tech and I need hands on. Either to prevent damage or theft from shipping.

Eventually, I do need to do a vehicle loan and a mortgage.

So, what are your thoughts on what I want to do for a rebuild.

Re: Almost to discharge. Time to make a plan for rebuilding.

You got 7 accounts before DC. Hold off until 2021 and let them age. And the hits for new accounts, lowering of your AAoA's, ect. Too much too soon. Dont know what the 7k for Snap On is. People who rush before DC and the score bump that will happen after all accounts show IIB and $0 run out to get credit that fast is scarey. Chill out. Its a marathon not a race. More cards does not mean higher scores. 3 cards would have been fine. Maybe 6-8 months down the road. Then hit up Disco. But with so much at once. Your scores will have to rebound. Took me 3 yrs to hit 6 cards. But each app was spaced out and not seeking behavior. Each new card came with a higher starting line and lower APR. Sit back and relax and let the cards work for you now. Not you getting more cards.

You need to stop applying let those account age.

You really should have waited until discharge, your scores would have gotten a little bump and would have made it easier to get cards with better terms .

Re: Almost to discharge. Time to make a plan for rebuilding.

Snap on was a secured loan that I reaffirmed for work. I am mechanic. I should have mentioned, I am not rushing immediatetly out after discharge to get those cards. I know its a waiting game. I already know it will take me years to get them. I should have specified that. I got others as they were soft pulls and not hard. Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten them. As for terms, the only ones I care about are the normal cards as those will generally carry a balance. Store cards are a quick payoff so no paid interest.

Sorry about the confusion about that. I was only listing my goals for the next 2yrs or so. And only was asking about the cards themselves in terms of stepping back up and how everyone has different feelings between use everywhere cards and store only cards.

Also, Firemedic, We talked about why I need to build quickly and take the damage now so my scores are as maximized as I can within the next few months with more AAoA reporting and all my inquiries gone atleast 6 months old.

Oh I know. There is a reason why I have to take the hits now vs over time. I have to rebuild in 2 parts. Get as much postive reporting and age going now. Do what  I need in my personal life and then do long term appropriate rebuilding after the fact.

Re: Almost to discharge. Time to make a plan for rebuilding.

In light of your explanations just above, and with the understanding that using cards to maximize returns comes later on when you’re rebuilt, I think you’re ok as long as you don’t add more cards now (which you’ve implied you won’t do). For now, just a few revolving tradelines to establish payment history is all you should be using.

Yeah, for the near future I have no intention of adding anymore. Just gardening what I have. The reason I need to move quickly is because I have to fight for full custody of my daughter and need to improve my living status to do so. So hence the quicker short term rebuild. Just have to get to good enough to do that.

Re: Almost to discharge. Time to make a plan for rebuilding.

I hear you and wish you luck - been down a stretch of that road myself in the past. It’s not easy but it’s worth every second spent and ounce of effort you put in. I’m happy to say I’ve had custody of my son and daughter since 2007. Wouldn’t change it for the world and you’d have to kill me to get them away from me.
