Has anyone ever experience Amex collections. They didint charge me off but I am getting a letter to settle, its not an agency it has AMex logo on it. How does it work and if I paid them off will they take me off their blacklist. Not sure if it is a blacklist or a myth.
AmEx does not "sell" their past due debt. First, they attempt to collect in-house then they'll assign your account to an AmEx dedicated agency.
As long as you have all or a partial balance including a negotiated less than full amount settlement with a 1099-C issued, you going to be blacklisted (although a few will get a second chance - but don't count on that).

My advice is if you are dead-set on having an AmEx "branded" card in your wallet and you are blacklisted, just get approved for an AmEx network co-branded card such as those issued by NFCU, PenFed, BBVA Compass and many others.
Why would I get blacklisted if I pay it off?

Amex never sells its debts so the collection is from Amex. If you pay them off you will be off the blacklist. If you are able to pay them off, try negociate with them to reinstate your account.
