If the system will let you pay online, then pay online. Get your payment confirmation number from amex, then call the collection agency and tell them it's been paid.

Ok I will do that now. I will let you all know what happens. Again, I appreciate everything.

That's a new one, haven't seen them before. Have you tried reaching out to the amex executive office yet? Personally, I would try them first to see if they can bring the account back and in good standing. Then call the collection company if they can't. I'd rather not send my money to amex if I'm unsure they'll recall the debt.

No I havent tried contacting the AMEX exectutive office. I will start there. I googled the number and this is what came up.

American Express Company
200 Vesey Street
New York, New York 10285
Phone: 212-640-2000

Does this look about right? I will start there first just to see if someone there can help me. Is there a particular department that I need to contact there or is this the office who handles all higher escelated issues? When I called the main customer service number I was transferred to 4 different representatives in India.

We thought you stated, as suggested, you'd pay online if you could. You've mentioned twice that you were going to do that. I feel that you're wasting precious time. You're making me anxious everytime you respond to a post, but still haven't made that online payment yet. I'm rooting for you to have a successful outcome! Smiley Wink

+1. As you said. Go online and see if it takes your payment first. Report back. Then plan B. Were anticipating the outcome. Smiley Tongue

Haha. I know it seems like im wasting time however I just want to make the right move on this.  I also didnt realize I would get responses so quick. You all are so knowledgable and ive used this forum to get from the 400's to the high 600's so with this hit it bummed me out so sorry if it seemed like I was all over the place. I did log on to the website and scheduled a payment. It allowed me to schedule the payment however there was a note on the account saying "account has been cancelled, online payments are not accepted". I still scheduled the payment and recieved a confirmation number. I also printed that out and saved it as a PDF as well. I contacted the executive office and the operator gave me the email address, fax, and mailing address to the Chairmans office. I sent him, the chairman, an email along with a copy of the payment confirmation showing the payment has been scheduled. I dont quite know if I should still contact the collections agency as well tho. Anyhow, again, i wasnt wasting time, I just wanted to make the right move that would help me vs one that would just make things worse. Again, thank you all for your help. I truly appreciate it. I will have my fingers, eyes, and toes crossed.

Thats the path I took. I made the payment and recieved a confirmation number. The site said I couldnt make payments online but the scheduling still went through so I will see what happens. To be on the safe side I still contacted the Exec office as well So I will see what happens.

See if its taken out of your bank account and if so get a copy of that for more ammunition along with the confirmation number from online to get the recall from the CA. Good news so far. Good Luck!
