Another question...

Hello all again,

I also have sent the offer letter to another collector, for roughly 40% of my bill.  After them tellign me no on the phone,  (which I know, I read through here , not to do)  I made it clear I am willing to pay this right now in exchange for removal from my report.  I also noted to them since this debt is little more than 4 years old, it will expire soon, so making a settlement was in both our intrests.  Well, they never responded to me.  Yet I saw an update on my credit report.  The overdue file, went from derogatory, to major derogatory, they changed it.  I am hoping this does not affect the date of removal fro mmy report does it?  I would not think so, but I thought it was funny that they did that, after I made them a offer and stated this is the only one I will make.  Will it have any repercusions on my credit score, or is it simply the damage has already been done, regardless of what they "update the status to"

once again, thanks in advance

Brandon

Re: Another question...

Have you DV'd?

No the update won't make the account report longer.

Re: Another question...

I think your example is worth a million times more than any essay about how nefarious and evil the CAs are, as well as why we should never touch them with anything less than a ten foot pole.

writing, CMRRR is the only way to communicate with them, and they WILL retaliate as much as possible.

Luckily enough, they are also sloppy and is possible for the consumer to hit back with the few tools available.

If this TL is not reported 100% accurately (type of account, dates, status of account), it's time to hit back with complaints.

Re: Another question...

Thanks for replying so fast!

I know the debt is correct.  The dates and such, yes.  I havent tried to DV since I know it is correct.  Is it still worth a shot?

Re: Another question...

DV is necessary also to assess whether the CA is still legally collecting or not. They might have since sold the debt, lost the records, or any other thing might have happened.
