I have a Macys card with a 1500CL and a 1289 bal. For the month of mar I paid my bill 1 day late ($289). 1 week later I got an alert from Myfico stating there was a change in my credit score. I was excited for I have been stuck at 623 for weeks. Imagine my surprise when i realized there was 24pt drop in my score, to 599: Myfico was reporting that I have a 1348bal/1100CL (Macys had decreased my CL, and tack on a $35 late fee, making it appears as if I was way over my CL; oh and my payment due date is also the closing date of the biling cycle, and i never knew that) . I called Macys and spoke to a CSR who informed me that macys does a monthly review and for the month of feb. my sccore was below the required 610, hence the decrease in the CL (mind you, my score has been lingering around 620ish since the end of january). i infd here ther was n o way that macys could have detected a score less than 610 for the month of feb. She placed me, then came back and told me after reviewing my CR, im over the req. 610 credit score so she will increase my CL to the original 1500, and i will PROBABLY get my points back at their next reporting cycle in a month or so.
This is where my confusion begins. How is Myfico reporting a score of 599 (after losing 24pts), but she sees a score over 610? Is there anyway I can get my points back, like call experian /equifax/ TU,and dispute it or something? Or should i wait until mid-April like she said to see if I get those points back?Im literally on the verge of tears here as I really worked hard at this credit building challenge to just lose 24 ptsbecause of some -IMO- crazy if not shady stuff on Macys part. Not to mentionthat i was in the initial stages of purchasing a condo. Any advise, suggestions input will help.

You need to wait for the next monthly update by Macy's, utilization scoring has no memory so if nothing else changes you should recover all the points after the next update. What she told you is BS, you were clocked on the CL due to being 1 day late, since they could not get you by reporting a 30 day late they got you by decreasing your CL to below your balance. Its crooked but it is the way these jacka**es operate, I told them to take their card a shove it....
Sorry to hear that. I hope you got it resolved. for some reason, there seems to be some shady going-ons with them. I wish I could close this account but thats like giving up a 9 yr trade line
