Hi All!
I just wanted to provide a few possible data points for those MyFicoer’s who may have gone through CCCS as I have, and are wondering how quickly they can get back in with creditors they included in the plan. So far, I have been very successful in getting back cards that I had to close, which ended up having anywhere from (1) 30 day late to multiple 60 days or more. Also please know that this may be a YMMV thing, and I know that there are multiple factors in play when getting approved with different lenders!
After paying off my Amazon and Victoria’s Secret, I was immediately able to get back in with both. My TU FICO (Amazon) at the time was just under 600 and my EQ (Victoria’s Secret) was probably 585ish.
I was finally able to get back in with Saks just last month with an EQ score of 635-640 (starting CL $750, not yet used, now at $2K), after having been denied twice. I had a Saks MC prior, so it may be awhile before I can get that back, but once my only collection was deleted a few months back, that seemed to do the trick for Saks.
Amex was an interesting one. I had an Amex Blue that ended up with a 60 day late and then had to close to enter the account into CCCS. I was very sad about this one, but at the time, with my financial position, I had no other choice. Well, paid them off 3 years ahead of schedule. Once the CCCS remarks were removed from my credit reports, I was immediately approved for the Amex Delta Gold, $1k. Now, this approval, I realize now, was a fluke. When I got my card, I noticed it has Member Since date of 2016 but my Amex online profile now recognizes me with my original date of 1993. At the time of my first approval, I must not have been recognized by their system right away as a prior member. Now that the system has caught up with me, when I attempted a 2nd app a week later for the Green card, immediate denial. Only reason given was due to having been in a payment plan for the last 12 mths. I tested one more card, another co-branded (the Mercedes revolver, just to see if maybe the co-branded cards were a different story). Nope! Denied, same reason. I talked directly with an Amex rep, nicest lady, who said everything looked great with my app, I just needed to wait the full 12 months. I REALLY hope they don’t catch their mistake and close my Delta Gold. Doubtful, but will tread VERY carefully until my 12 months are up, which will be in February!
Lastly, Citi! I had a Brooks Brothers Mastercard with them—same situation, closed due to entering CCCS. This one had a 120 day late on it over 2 years ago. Paid off 3 years early. Once the CCCS comments were removed from my credit, I have finally been able to increase my Macy’s card (Citi affiliate) from the measly $300 CL as well as my Bloomie’s. I was able to get approved for Brooks Brothers store card and now a Shell card. Denied for Citi Simplicity – sole reason being inquiries. This shocked me! No mention of prior relationship with Citi being a factor. Inquiries, I can deal with, and now plan to garden till end of the year, minimum.
Currently, income is at $87k/yr, AAoA=5 yrs, Utilization approximately 30% due to a few closed accounts I’m still paying off. Should be at 1% w/in 12 months.
Hopefully this will be helpful to someone who may have gone through CCCS and uncertain as to potential restrictions on re-establishing those relationships. I found an awful lot of great info on this board regarding BK’s and who to app with post-BK, but not many folks who’ve gone the CCCS route. I owe such a debt of gratitude to this community for having helped me get my credit and my life back on track after such a dark time. I can’t thank you all enough!
