Asking OC to put in "unknown" or "not applicable" for lates?

Whats up my friends?

So I am about to pay off a citi account (a jeweler), and I have several 30,60,90 day lates. I was going to write them a letter stating my misunderstanding with how the bill was supposed to be paid (the employee told me something completely wrong), and how this was my first ever credit account.

Instead of asking to report that I was on time for those lates, I was going to ask to put report the lates as "unknown" or "not applicable". Has anyone done this? Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Doing this and "removing" lates is the same thing.

They do not report it as "OK" for the months they correct, they remove the reporting for those months. This keeps them in complaince of FCRA- to report accurate.

A GW letter can go a long way-

Re: Asking OC to put in "unknown" or "not applicable" for lates?

My mortgage is a mess. I've had a solid year of late payments, and now we've finally caught up. I suppose we could have declared BK or something, but we didn't and now I'm cleaning everything up. Even if I lose every CO (getting there! - mostly medical) and have no debt, and open a couple of "rebuilder" credit cards, those late payments will still be there, and I'm thinking my score will still suck.

Anyone had any luck removing a LOT of lates? Like a year of no reporting? They gave me the "must report accurately" line. Should I just keep GWing? They are one of the few mortgage companies NOT in trouble now...

Thanks!!

That is interesting to know...I never have sent a GW, I have just dealt with the OC's and CA's and CRA's differently, and I never had a reason to send one until now.

I have heard a lot of people say that their GW letter was denied because "it is illegal to do that", so I assumed that they were talking about putting "ok" for the months that they were late.

I called Security Finance to see if they would update my paid in full account to positively reflect the one late pay to current and she said that was illegal.  I read here that sometimes calling is better.  Should I try a couple of letters to see if someone other than the CSR that answered the phone would help?

My only other lates, since I have no CC, is my bank for my auto loans, which have been paid based on our agreement in getting me caught up over a year ago.  Probably no chance there for GW huh?  They told me to keep payments under 30 days and we'd be good.  Now they denied me a loan for a newer car.  We've been with them for over 15 years, probably didn't help one of their partners embezzled - gov probably watching every move now.

We were "given" 6 months worth of GW for lates on DH's SL ... haven't seen it hit the reports, yet, though. And it's been over 60 days (coming up on 90). YMMV. Smiley Mad
