No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Drop the au and get a couple of tradelines in your own name. Five years is too long to be relying on someone else's credit to support your own.

Currently my TU score is 617 and I've been an authorized user on a credit card for 5 years which is my oldest line of credit, after that my only other line of credit is 6 months. The issue is the credit utilization on the card I'm on is at 90 percent but with always on time payments. Would it be better to get off the card and lower my utilization or stay because it's my oldest line of credit? Any help would be great!
Welcome to my fico ![]()
As already stated, drop yourself as AU its doing more harm than good. You want 3 cards minimum in your own name to help drive your Fico.
Agree with all the about posters...
.... but when the AU is removed, your score will then reoresent an assessment of your own risk.
With the AU, it does not.
A score improvment that a potential creditor sees as not having come about based on your history can easily be discounted.
Im sorry as im sure I seem and am super ignorant to this. Are you saying my score could go down when taking myself off as an AU?

It's hard to say. The high utilization on that account is definitely hurting you but removing yourself from the account as an AU means you'll lose it's entire history and that might be even more damaging.
Take yourself off the account and see what happens to your scores.
You can always be added back in the future.
I was in a similar situation like you few months ago. I removed myself as authorized user and my score went up over 100 points. Not kidding. I applied for new credits and now I can say I have 5 new accounts in my name and score still going up. Went from 530 to 636. Now I have so many inquiries but I am done applying till next 2 years when all inquiries fall off the same month. Lol.
