Authorized user question

My father recently passed away and I was on one of his cards as an authorized user, of course since he is no longer around payments are not being made and the account has been closed, however there was a rather large balance on the account which has now gone into probate and the fact that it is not going now hit my fico today and dropped 20 points.  When I called the company to let them know he had passed I asked to removed as an authorized user which they said they could not do.  My question is should I dispute this account and ask the credit agencies to remove it or just wait it out until September when AU's are supposedly coming off your credit reports anyway?  We recently bought a new house and have no immediate need for credit, however I have heard that other cards and your insurance can be affected by your current credit score even if you have done everything correctly with them.  Is it even possible that the credit agencies would remove this account from my credit?

Thanks in advance for any advice you have.

While it is true that AU accounts will no longer affect scoring when FICO 08 is implemented, I haven't heard that it will be September.

I would call the card issuer up again and ask to be removed as AU.

Or dispute with CRAs as 'not mine'.

Re: Authorized user question

Thank-you so much, I just called them again (I was a little afraid as the collection agency assigned to collect on it , through the probate, has been down right rude, Phillips & Cohen my the attourney's say they are literally hearse chasers) and asked to be removed as an AU as it had affected my credit score and they said they would send a letter to the CRA's removing it from my credit and are faxing me a letter stating that it is being removed.  If only everything having to do with his estate were this easy.
