I had an account with BofA that was charged off back in 2009. The DOFD is 10/2008, and the account has not been reported since early 2009. Today, I received a SW alert that the account was sold to collections. The balance in place changed to $0. I live in Maryland where the SOL is 3 years. I don't wnat nay knew collections added to my account, but I don't have the money to PIF. Should I call BofA and find out who the CA is to try to set up a settlement arrangement with them in advance or wait for a dunning notice?

You might be able to head it off from reporting if you contact BOA to find out who the CA is. Then you could possibly work out something with the CA such that they agree not to report it in exchange for payment.
Thanks pizza..that's what I was thinking. I just hate that this happened just as i was planning to contact BOA and workout a direct settlement
