I'm a little stumped. 3 1/2 years ago I had a Barclays Card that charged off for $809, a few months after that I paid that amount. The problem I am running into now while trying to clean up my report is that it is not reflecting that I paid the balance. I sent a 623 letter and they sent a printout back showing my information from signing up for the card. I replied back to them letting them know I wasn't disputing that I owned the account, that I was disputing the fact that I paid the balance and they are not responding to me.
I dont have the proof of the payment and apparently I cannot obtain it as the financial institution I wrote the check from (was from a insurance policy) is no longer in business.
I don't know what to do now. Any help would be appreciated.

If you paid the account, I would give them a call and ask them to confirm in their records that it is showing as paid, ask if they can send you any confirmation of this. Then I would ask them to update their reporting on the account to reflect a zero balance ( again assuming it is paid ). Also I would send the confirmation to the CRA showing that the balance is incorrect.
Thanks, I will give that a shot
OP, can you still log onto your online account? If you can, see what balance it has there and if the payment history is on there. Also, it's a good way to get in touch with them via their secure message center.
No unfortunately I cant. I called them, they said they were going to have to research it and get back to me since it was closed so long ago. So I'll just wait and see.
