Good Morning All!!
I'm hoping someone can help me. i received a letter from ACA receivables company, llc (collection agency) stating that I owe $200 from a verizon wireless acct., BUT on my credit report it is showing that it is paid/closed. How do I respond to them...simply state that I have paid it and send them a copy of my CR??
Please help..I need to get this letter out today!
Thankyou!!
Dont send then any arguments. Just send them a letter within 30 days that disputes the debt and asks for fulll validation under section 609 of the FDCPA. The ball is then in thier court to validate once they notice you.
ROBERT,
What validation letter do I send?
Here is the thread where you can find additional information and samples:

Butterfly, there are two different letters that yuou should send.
The first is a debt valoidatin (DV) letter sent directly to the CA under section 809 of the FDCPA. Sample letters aboundd on the site. A DV letter has two purposes. First, it asks for validation of the debt itself, and second, it forstalls further collection activities until the CA responds. However, the CA is under no requirement to even respond to a DV letter.
The second type of letter is a dispute filed directly with the CRA under section 611(a) of the FCRA. That is where you argue the substance of your dispute. The CRA is required to investigate the dispute, validate the debt itself, and respond back to you within 30 days.
You should do both.
OP, did you ever pay Verizon Wireless the $200? Or was it sold?
As HappyDays mentioned, DV the CA CMRRR and wait for their response.
