What is the DOFD? Who is actually reporting?
You are willing to pay if they put in writing they will remove in 1 year?
The CA is reporting but the NY Public Library is listed under the CA, Unique.
I am even considering going to the library (the administrative offices are not far from my apartment) and forcing them to take my check (which is, in essence, a donation since I do NOT owe them any money) and delete it. Haven't quite figured out how I will do that though
It was reported 2 years ago and the CA is the reporter.
I am willing to pay as I mentioned in my original post but they have not responded to my letters. I will not be willing to wait the one year though. It cannot be impacting my score that much. My scores are about 750-767 so I am over the 700 hurdle for good mortgage rates when I refinance. I just wanted to do it for the dsake of having a clean report.
The amount of a collection has no effect on score.
That $82 collection is hurting your score as much as an $0.82 or $8200.00 collection would.
In NY, paid collections are removed 5 years from DOFD.
If the CA is reporting, only the CA can remove the listing from your report. The library can not.
Have you asked the library if this particular CA even has the account any longer?
