CA will not pay for delete. Hipaa process question!

Im in the process of doing pay for delete on some collections I currently have on my report. Of the 5 collections I have I have. 4 CA have settled by sending me pay for delete letters on their letterhead. However, the last one Law Offices of Mitchell D. Bluhm & Associates, LLC in the amount of $385 (medical collections) will not do pay for delete but will mark account as settled. I denied their offer. Now I know that there is a way to get this off my credit report with some type of Hipaa law process. Can anyone break down this process for me to get this removed from my report. It is the last one I need to go bye bye so I can buy a house within the next year. PLEASE HELP!!

Im sorry the process cannot be discussed on any forum of myFico all we can do is suggest you contact its creator for help. I will give you the order that you should follow for medical collections. Welcome to the board Smiley Happy

For unpaid medical debt that is reporting on your CR:

1. Call the OC and see if you qualify for Charity Care
2. If not then ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
3. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
4. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help

If the debt was bought by the CA then you have to deal with them. The OC can not take a payment. It would be different if the OC just assigned collection authority to the CA.

Re: CA will not pay for delete. Hipaa process question!

You basically have 3 choices that I'm aware of: Pay anyway and start sending GW letters, ignore it (and hope you don't get sued if it's still in SOL) or try the HIPAA method.

I'm curious as to how to use the hipaa method if I can't pay oc.

I really don't know anything about it. All I can suggest is to Google it and see how it works.
