I have an old macy's acct that was paid in a settlement with Northland Group Inc(the letter I have for proof of payment is dated for Nov.21,2005) . I had this account removed from EQ credit file, not sure what year. The problem I'm having is getting it removed from my TU and EXP reports, it is still showing as PAID IN SETTLEMENT BUT, STILL SHOWING THE CHARGE OFF STATUS WITH THE DATES LISTED. My question is do I try to reopen the account with Macy's or keep trying to get the account removed with GW letters?
thanks
Whether you send GW or try to rehab the account is your decision. Do you want a Macy's card? Do you have a need for it?
I would rather have the account removed, but if the only thing that Macy's has to offer to get rid of the CO status is to reopen the account I will do that. What do you think? By the way do I GW the CA or the OC?

GW letter goes to the one reporting.
If the CA is reporting, I don't know if rehabbing the card will help. Even if the account is rehabbed, the CA can still report because you settled through them.
If Macy's is the one reporting, that's another story. However, I've only seen rehab work on accounts with a balance. If you've settled and there's no balance listed, GW might be your only option.
