Can Anyone Chime in with A Collection question?

Hi everyone

here is a question for those who are a little more seasoned then me in collections.

I have 2 collection accounts on my credit report that were disputed due to some information. Last couple days, i get a notification from CK and couple other monitoring sites that Assetcare was removed from my credit. I have monthly TU sub. So i pulled my credit and it was gone. 2 days later it showed back up but the status changed to " Closed". Then the LVNV account changed to "Closed" also, althought they both have been updating them monthly. So my question:

Would it be normal for CA to first update the account as Closed, and then delete it, or is it something else that made them update the account as closed?

I am including the screen shots of both accounts as per CK, and feel free to ask any questions if you need more info on them.

What is the status of your dispute? If the dispute is still open then they probably just updated the account with the dispute info. Wait until you get the results for your dispute. Collection accounts or delinquent accounts are typically reported as closed to indicate they are no longer open for purchases.

Is the second account medical related? If so you may want to search the boards for information about dealing with medical collection accounts.

Re: Can Anyone Chime in with A Collection question?

Based on the screeshots you provided, it looks like both debts were determined to be valid debts. On the medical collection, I would suggest contacting the original medical provider, and ask them to recall the debt from the CA in exchange for payment. They'll probably want the full amount, but, if they agree to recall the debt in exchange for your payment, that would remove the collection entirely from your reports. You could try the same thing with the other unless the OC actually sold the debt to the CA. Then your best bet would be to ask the CA for a PFD in exchange for payment. You want to do everything possible to get both CAs removed from your reports in exchange for payment.

Re: Can Anyone Chime in with A Collection question?

LVNV will PFD if settled or PIF. With the Med Collection. This is from our Mod @gdale6

1. Call the OC and see if insurance can be billed, (or-rebilled), collections ultimately paid by insurance get removed per new rules that came from CRAs settlement with 22 state AGs. If not then
2. see if you qualify for Charity Care, if not then
3. ask that they recall the collection in exchange for full payment
4. Send the reporting CA a PFD offer
5. Google the HIPAA Process and contact its creator for help, this process cannot be discussed in any forum of myFico.

Not financial advice, never will i tell you not to pay your bills, and I am not a credit repair/counselor.

As such when life happens,  all I ask, is that when events happen, just report it accurately, and completely.

Oh, and I just love the data.

First, dont rely on third party credit sites - the data, is not reliable and never shows you the complete picture.

Then, and through next spring or so - you can go to annualcreditreport.com, and pull your reports directly from all three CRA's, free and weekly (once every 7 days). These are more reliable, but requested the  printed versions is always best.

Unsure if if your picture is EQ - or TU, but pull each report, one at a time, save and/print to pdf. EX too.

Once you get them, if you have the time and want some feedback on them, post the screen shot.

Equifax, is the easieat to demonstrate the issues/data in. Hopefully, you can do that one first.

Would love to give you feedback, on what you think - you are seeing.

Then, what occurs when a Data Furnisher is attempting to resolve a data issue at times, is they DELETE the record (your tradeline) and then reinsert it, most of the time it does NOT work. Think of it as many rows of excel.

First CLUE ---

When you get the RAW credit report from annualcreditreport.com, PAY ATTENTION to the SECTION it is in.

Look at the NUMBER of the tradeline, It should not be "5.X". Instead it should be "10.0", share what you have - be glad to help shed some light on why this is innacurate.
