Hi all,
I had a charge off in the amount of $880 with Navy Federal back in 2011. I've worked hard to rebuild and learn. I saw some people had positive experiences with paying old Navy Charge offs and getting back in. It is currently with Midland Credit Management and Navy said I had to pay them directly but could not tell me if I could get back in with them. Does anyone have experience or feed back in regards to this?
Yes you'll have to pay to get back in. With Midland once you PIF or settle they will delete themselves off your credit report. Dual win.
Follow what Navy said and pay them directly. They cant tell you if you will be able to open another account with them due to other factors they must look at (ie credit report, DTI, ect.). Once you PIF and you meet their credit/banking requirements, you should ok to apply for products.

I believe you'll be fine. I had a similar situation. Spelled out in details in a post I did ( Link to post ) . I would pay them. Start your membership appeal process and become a happy new member again. Best of luck!
P.S. Here's a tip for your appeals form... "I've paid all monies owed to the credit union."

You may need to do more than settle and go all the way to PIF. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong on the settle vs. PIF with Navy.
I'm also not convinced paying $900+ is worth it. A lot of other fish in the sea. Navy is good, but not $900 good.
