To me it looks like the account was purchased by another lender (collection agency?). It doesn't look to me as if you were the one who paid it off.
+1
That typically means "Sold to a collection agency." The OC has to report the balance as zero. Do you have a corresponding collection account listed for this debt?
Yes, I do have a corresponding collection account. The problem was that I was sure I paid this off to a different collection agency other than the one that is attempting to collect. I juust need to go through my bank statements and double check.
Thank you for answering everyone![]()
What it sounds like to me is that you are in a similar situation I was in once. I had an acct with verizon that went into collections. The CA was reporting a balance owed. I negotiated with verizon and ended up paying them directly. The problem was the CA reported that I paid them in full since verzion did not report the acct as being in CA. I ended up having to send the CA a DV letter asking them to explain and show me proof that I had any interaction with them at all, to include making any sort of a payment to them. The could not so they ended up removing the CA acct and I never heard from them again. Hope that helps.
