Cant access credit file

My son in law has no credit. I have gotten him a job and he wants to work on his credit but everytime we try to run his credit on creditcheck total or credit karma we are not able to?

He said at one time someone tried to steal his SSN and such.

What do we have to do in order to gain access to his credit?

Thanks,

Re: Cant access credit file

he needs credit for 6 months as an authorized user or his own secured card before he has a Fico score.

some members here are pretty knowledgeable with that.

I can't point you to any posts on the topic but I recommend you do a pre qual on Capital 1 website. He more than likely will not get any offers but is worth a try without any HP's. He may need to go the secured route to get established. Capital One, BOFA, Discover secured are good choices, I think Citi has a secured card too. You could try a local credit Union, if possible. Ask questions here if you need advise. Read the posts here, so much good information & advise. Good luck to him, have patience. I am still learning building good credit takes time, there are no short cuts.Smiley Wink
