Capital One Goodwill?

Good Morning,

I have been reading and getting all my advice from these threads/posts about Goodwill letters, and I am now to a point where I have a question, need some advice.

I had sent a "Goodwill" email to the CEO of Capital One about 2 weeks ago, and just today received a call stating that Capital One must report accurate info to the Credit Agencies and that my request was denied.  I am going to setup "Rounds" as I seen per another forum thread and it looked very helpful, almost something similiar to what credit repair agencies do.

Anyway,

My question is this, if I have ANOTHER credit card with Cap One and it has been in collections but still with Cap One, will that almost 100% of the time deny any letters of goodwill that I send them?  That account, I owe about $408 and has NOT been sent to a collection agency and Cap One will not budge at all about removing that one either.  I plan to pay it off and take the "paid in full" status, but was just thinking about that as I am about to send rounds of letters out to Cap One.

Thank you for your time!

Ray

Re: Capital One Goodwill?

It could have an impact, but the problem is, too many people abused the executive office in the past that they changed policies and rarely help anymore. Definitely keep up the goodwill campaign because they could remove it. Not sure how much the other account could affect the decision. Good luck.

Re: Capital One Goodwill?

I wish you all the luck in the world, but, I don't think anyone could reasonably expect a GW removal for an account, or payment history that's currently in poor standing. Generally GW deletions are for people who for whatever reason experience some sort of isolated, rare snafu in an otherwise stellar payment history either prior to the event, and/or well past (since) the derogatory event. I would venture to say that if you have one account in collections, with another possible pending (confused about that first account status), there is little chance of success for a GW removal or correction. I would first make everything "right" with Cap 1 and keep things in good standing (if any accounts are still open) prior to attempting any further GW pleadings.

^This.

You gotta show some goodwill to get some goodwill.

Re: Capital One Goodwill?

Sorry for the confusion.

Account one - $408 (collections)

Account Two - Had maxed out, but paid in full and only 1 instance of late payment (what I am trying to use the GW for).

Question was essentially, is it even worth attempting GW for Account two, due to the status of Account One.

That makes sense, I feel they are legitimately not working with anyone at all due to the abuse.  Experiencing heavy resistance with Cap One and now Navy Fed.

Re: Capital One Goodwill?

To my experience Cap1 is one the most forgiven banks out there!

No need for GW letter or lunch with CEO

  • Settle your debt on all Cap1 accounts
  • Wait 6-12 months
  • App for a new Cap1 CC
  • Pay everything on time

After few months they are going to remove any old bad accounts that you have with them.

Re: Capital One Goodwill?

I am currently trying some GW letters to Cap1 (on my 2nd round right now). I've been with them for 18 years, will be 19 years in November, and had no problems until 2018-2020 with the triple whammy of extended employment problems, dad getting sick/ dying from diabetes and then covid right after that. Had a bunch of late payments throughout that time but haven't missed any in the past 36 months. They shot my first GW attempt down but I'm going to keep trying. What's there to lose? 60 cents a letter? Good luck to you in your endeavors.
