Cards for rebuilding and beyond!

Hey, I wanted to get everyone's opinion and create a list of cards that people used for rebuilding and cards that they recommend for after you're in the 700+ club.

I used the Cap 1 Secured Card and Cap 1 QuicksilverOne to help rebuild, along with a credit union card.

Barclays Rewards Card can be used as a rebuilder and the bank also has 700+ cards

SDFCU Secured Card is a good rebuilder as well

I would think the "After 700" cards are going to be the usual suspects:  Bank of America, Citi, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Amex (in all its forms).  I'm planning on applying for Citi and Chase after I cross that threshhold.

Re: Cards for rebuilding and beyond!

Started with secured credit union card. IF you get an offer from legacy visa (first national bank, not FNBO), take it. They are the much friendlier version of a rebuilder than credit one or first premier, but I didn't get that offer till the CU card was 8 months old. They do have that 75 annual fee, and 29.99 interest, but they do have the normal grace periods, cli's for FREE every 6 months. They are only a rebuilder, and will admit that. If your credit grows (which most folks here do), then they are meant for the chopping block.

Agree with add on of quicksilver.

If you have the time, just open up one or two secured cards to start, while working on cleaning up the credit reports (this presumes most of your baddies are 5 to 6 years old, and/or medical). While disputing, and waiting for things to fall off, you should get an invite from the first national bank folks. Take it.

Just put a monthly auto charge on it, and use your other secured cards normally. When you up to 600 or close, try for the cap one quicksilver, you should be close to having the baddies all gone, and only some medical debt that is easy to PFD.
