CenterPoint Energy

CenterPoint Energy is a utility company and it is listed as a CO on all 3 reports. My question is this...I have come across an article that reports CenterPoint had stopped reporting to credit agencys. However, mine is still listed so this may not be the case any longer. Has anyone else heard of this or dealt with this? I have several links to articles about their policy but am not sure on the rules of this forum in regards to posting links. So I will say this - google "CenterPoint Energy and credit report" You will find many articles about it. The only drawback is the articles are from 2008. I cannot find any newer information so they may have changed their minds on it. Anyone ever hear about this?

Re: CenterPoint Energy

I had a charge off listed on my reports with them as well.. I called and spoke with someone in the collections department, paid the bill and she stated they would delete and they did. I had no issues with them what so ever.  So yes they use to report charge offs and it is real easy to get them to delete once you pay.

Re: CenterPoint Energy

Thank you for that info and you are correct. I called them just a short while ago, paid my debt, and they agreed to remove the item from all credit agents. They said it can take up to 30 days. Is that about the time frame that it took for them to delete for you or could did they really delete sooner than that? Just wondering. Thanks for the post!! It helped alot!

Re: CenterPoint Energy

I just recently contacted Centerpoint Energy about paying a gas bill that had been charged off.  They said that they would delete once they received the payment-that I would have to contact them once the payment was made to have it deleted.  I sent them a money order for the total amount, gave it about a week, and then contacted them about deleting.  That was on May 2 I believe.  They immediately updated the balance to 0, but it hasn't been deleted yet.  I am going to give it 30 days and then if it hasn't been deleted I will contact them again.

Re: CenterPoint Energy

It took Experian 1 week to delete (they are always fast)....I had to dispute with both EQ and TU.  I have determined that with both of them I always have to dispute before it is deleted.  Glad it worked out for you.

Re: CenterPoint Energy

I checked my Experian CR today, and Centerpoint was deleted from there.  It was not reporting on Equifax, but was still on TU last nite.  I will check TU again later on tonite.  The day that I talked to Centerpoint about deleting after I sent them my payment, the balance was updated to 0 immediately, but it took a little longer to see that it was actually deleted.
