Certegy

Anyone ever dealt with them?  Anyone know a good way to contact?  Is email better than mail?  Anyone have a contact there?  Anyone get a PFD accepted by them ever?

Re: Certegy

I have and they will stalk you for a while then they just sit back. I had a large debt with them that I actually let fall off my credit report. This was before I new about this site. Good Luck.

Also, is this for an actual credit debt or a check? There are two diff divisions. One is for checks and the other is for creditors like Visa.

Re: Certegy

I dealt with Cheksystems, and had found they are to provide one free report a year to everyone. When I sent in my request, I got my report within a few days, real quick, and found an error from a credit union. With the report was a form pre-filled for me to dispute anything, so I filled it out for the error. Less than a month later, I got a note from Cheksystems saying it was an error, and mailed me a new updated report a week or so later. If it's regarding checks, see about getting your free report, then work from there. If it's on your check report and your credit report, there may be more info and different departments you can try.

Re: Certegy

It is for a check from years and years ago.  Its close to falling off, but I want things paid.  It does not show on my cheksystems report, so I am happy about that.  I want to pay it off in full, but while I'm at it I would love to get a PFD for it.

Anyone actually gotten them to PFD?

Re: Certegy

Good Luck with Certegy.  I sent PFD email to edited and one to [email protected].  I also mailed PFD to PO Box 30046 Tampa, FL  33630 and faxed to 904-357-1105.  Got the following reply back from edited.

As a check guarantee and warranty company, we approved check number 2810 in the amount of $62.02 presented to Oshkosh B’Gosh Factory Store on 2.6.09.  The check returned as insufficient funds.  Certegy entered it into the files as claim number edited and added a service charge of $40.00 to offset the cost of processing and collection activity.  To date, we have received the service charge in the amount of $40.00, but have not received the face amount of the check.

Regarding your request, you may be assured that if you forward the face amount of check number 2810, it will clear your account, your check writing ability will not be compromised and we will notify the credit reporting agencies of payment in full, however, it is not a common practice for Certegy to purge the entry from the credit bureaus.  We played no part in the return of the check and do not feel it incumbent upon us to purge this information, we hope you can understand our position on this matter.  The entry will remain on your credit report, however, it will reflect a “paid in full” status.  We have mailed a hard copy of this same information out to the address you provided today and you will received it in a few days.

Thank you for contacting [email protected].  If you should require further assistance or questions, you may also contact our Customer Care lines at 1.800.352.5970.

Guess I'll go ahead and pay then try GW.

Re: Certegy

I have been dealing with Certegy.

They have a tradeline on my CRs for $35.88 from GoDaddy. And this is weird because I have an account with GoDaddy that's been in good standing for years - as they are a business partner of mine.

I sent a DV letter out to Certegy and received a reply yesterday. They explained to me that an electronic check was submitted to them for the amount, and it was not honored.

I have never used a checking account with GoDaddy and have no idea about this debt.

The letter also said that since the transaction was electronic, they had no record of it - only that I owed the debt.

I am sending a PFD letter today and will hope for the best.

Re: Certegy

Ugh. I hate these guys.

What a piece of work this company is! In addition to a PFD, I also filed a compaint with the BBB.

The PFD response I got was they debt was valid, and since it was an electronic check - they had no actual record of the debt, only that I owed it plus a $25 fee.

They also refused to PFD since the account was over 210 days old.

Let's not forget to mention the fact they've sent no communication to me whatsoever, other than the validation letter.

So about the debt - it was $10.88. Yes, I know a small amount, but now it's war since they refuse to work with me. Come to find out, the transaction was for GoDaddy.com, with whom I have a 10+ year relationship in good standing with.

GoDaddy shows the payment as paid but also shows it sent to collections? They said they would re-process the order and contact Certegy to refund any moneys that were spent in the sale of my account. The tradeline *should* be removed once GoDaddy refunds the money to Certegy.

However, Certegy is trying to say that GoDaddy is refusing to cooperate on my behalf but this is not the case.

What a mess for such a small amount but I want it deleted, not just marked paid.

So I have printed all the communications from the BBB and GoDaddy, as well as a receipt for the transaction...sending all this to EQ.
