Changing Plans

I'm pissed! Seems like Some people file for bankruptcy Monday then get millIons in available credit by FrIday. I tried pre qual for cap one, even credit one. Cap one, secured only. Credit one, denied. So my new plan. .. wait until I get close to 700 I guess to get credit. My mom has basically maxed out her available credit, Has a score of about 640, that's been dropping from 698 due to an increase in use. .... Yet she gets offers in the mail and just got a Victoria secret card. This crap makes me want to say f it.... I'm getting no where. .... Feel like throwing in the towel.

Re: Changing Plans

Everything takes time... Reason ur mom still get card is even cuz she's maxed out her card she still paying it on time.. Beside she maxed out and she got a Victoria card which is a store card. She might not be able to get bank card like visa mc Amex discover. Don't give up credit will get better as long as u pay all the payments on time

Re: Changing Plans

I am sorry the OP feels this way.  Remember this credit game is not a race, it takes time, dedication and effort.  It took me some time to get where I am in the credit game after my bk a year ago.  I could not get any unsecured cards fresh out of my bk.  I had to go the secured route, opened a Express store card, fingerhut, and a Verve MC and then things began to open up.  Capital One would not give me a card until after about 4 months out of discharge.  Don't give up.  Things will begin to open up for you.

Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I have learned from these forums. I am logging off as of November 9, 2022. I wish everyone great success.

Re: Changing Plans

Also instead of being pissed.. Should learn to build up credit again.. Getting pissed throwing attitude not going to help anything.. No one got u in the situation ur in now u got imurself into it.. Again u should stay away with that kind of attitude.. If u don't want help with rebuilding lots of ppl can help.. U got an secured card from cap1 if that car is 3-6 months old and u been using and making on time payment u can try for their  unsecured platinum and qs1. If u get u have 3 cards just use it and pay it on time u will see ur score go up slowly but will go up.. U didn't messed up ur credit in a month so don't expect to build to top tier credit in a month.. Especially ur starting from bad credit not no credit..

Re: Changing Plans

I've never filed bankruptcy. Have a revolving fingerhut. Have raised my score almost 100 points in 5 months. ... Still no good. I just feel disappointed because other people, also rebuilding, Often starting from a worse point than myself, seem to have better luck. I just have revised my plans to wait a Lot longer to try and do other things that other people do, Often with lower scores. They get unsecuRed cards at 550.... I'm going to wait until about 690 before I app for anything. Not stopping, just waiting. Delaying plans about a year is all. No point in being here hearing about the success of everyone else I never have.

Re: Changing Plans

OP it can be aggravating, but everyone's profile is different.  have you tried calling the backdoor numbers and reconing?  the rep may explain what you have to do to prove creditworthiness.  Try not to get pissed, try to find out why and fix it.  Have you looked up your reports?  There is so much to learn here.  When your ready try reading more posts.  I've been there....barely approvable for everything.  Have you tried secured cards?  The cards that don't pull credit (I think I've read these exist)?

Chin up.  Things will turn around.....

Re: Changing Plans

Did you app Capital One?

Is there anything positive reporting on your credit report? I had to go the secure route. Smiley Sad Once i had six payments on cr i apped Cap One.

but if you can get their secure card(if denied), it increases quickly!

Re: Changing Plans

I think you should app cap1 quicksilverONE account and platinum(back to back) and then also apply for their secure card if you get denied. This will get you on a great start and may land you a couple unsecure cards.

ceratinly worth a try.

any reason you are agaist that?
