Charge off with balance still reported

Cap 1 is reporting a CO but with a balance still and Northland is trying to collect and has offered a settlement for less than full amount. If I settle for less, will Cap 1 set balance to zero even if I didn't pay the full balance? Ideas or experience from anyone?

Re: Charge off with balance still reported

Hi, I would find out first if Cap1 account was sold to Northland and if so Cap 1 account should have a 0 balance already.  But if Northland is collecting for them unfortunately both will have balances.  I had a collection account with Northland for a Cap 1 account also but it was a relief when both accounts fell off.  Good Luck in fixing this.

If you settle with the CA, Cap One will probably still show a remaining balance.
